This new home was built on one of the fifty original lots created in 1831 when the historic town of Waterville, Ohio was first settled. A desire to respect this history yet achieve a modern interior, led to the split form and modest scale of this new residence. The street elevations were guided by local historic ordinances and are juxtaposed by large windows and expansive decks facing the river. The primary living spaces, both interior and exterior, were conceived around entertaining large groups for the empty nest clients. An elevated slot garden resides between the public and private wings of the home and creating an immediate relationship to the exterior while remaining above the spring runoff which annually floods the property.
