Located in the East Asian Art galleries of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Japanese Tea House and Temple Gallery required a new ceiling and lighting system. Working with the Museum's Special Exhibitions Department, the Curator of East Asian Art, and the Conservation Department, a replacement for the 50+ year old ceiling was researched and selected based on aesthetics/light quality, building code, and conservation concerns. Installation of the new ceiling required the entire room to be scaffolded above the historic temple and tea house structures, a challenge worked through with the chosen contractor.
