Located on the Delaware River north of Philadelphia, a new vacation home replaced an older cottage which had sustained repeated flood damage. In addition to elevating the new structure, the footprint was to remain modest, work within existing vegetation and afford expansive views of the river. A centrally located two-story masonry element anchors the cedar clad bedroom wings which float to either side. The materials and massing were intended to minimize home's scale and recede into the landscape. The main living spaces and a large deck all face the river where expansive fenestration captures the river's trajectory past the home.
